Peak Run

Such a lovely day today. So much so that I took a very extended route back from some RoSPA driving training in an around Woodley near Stockport. My route went out almost as far as Castleton then back via the Staffordshire Peaks.

Cupdate

In less than a fortnight me and the Cup are off to Le Mans. Although I have been driving her regularly I have also been sorting out some bits and bobs so an update is perhaps called for.

Immediately after I got her she needed a new MAF.

Alfie did a complete rear suspension build a while back and all was well for a bit but in recent week’s a creak has reappeared. I am pleased to report that after a false start it is now fixed. Turned out to be waynedear’s top arm bush which had completely dried out. Other than needing lubrication it was fine. Alfie drilled a small hole in it and injected some silicon and now the creak has completely gone.

I have also had the front suspension replaced, an oil cooler kit from Autolusso and a couple of rear tyres – Eagle F1s with original tread pattern that Alfie had lying around.

The door has been adjusted and I have sourced but not yet fitted new badges, an interior light cluster and a dashboard switch.

I have had the rear bumper and spoiler resprayed and this week I have replaced the stereo. I found a nice Philips unit that has a similar display to the original- white illumination. It has a built in foldaway iPhone dock and Bluetooth audio and hands free. It was half the price of similar spec units that I was looking at.

I have recently started serious work on the engine bay and on the way down to Le Mans I am stopping off at Autolusso for a new exhaust (Wizzard) and a few secondhand bits.

Today I gave her a thorough wash and treated her to some AG HD wax.

She is starting to look really quite presentable and is perhaps nearly show material.

There is still more to do mind.
